FTU is a metal music fanzine created by a few old angry metal fans as an outlet to promote bands we like and to offer praise and criticism to the metal scene. We enjoy heavy metal, speed metal, and thrash metal, death metal, black metal, doom metal, stoner rock, technical metal, progressive metal, power metal, experimental music, old punk, old hardcore, underground bands, kvlt garbage and even some commercial bands. We have also been listening to underground metal music for six hundred and sixty six plus years and these days we hate nearly everything we hear and see. We also do not give a fuck if you agree with us; this site is primarily for us and the bands we promote.Fuck the mainstream, fuck the underground, fuck the metal community and fuck you as you are probably a poser anyway!
There are over 1000 demos and albums released in the metal world every month and there is an abundance of bands that suck or merely just go through the motions while copying everyone else. These days it is getting very difficult to find bands that are really worth hearing. Like most metal fans we turn to zines to get advice on what we should check out but we usually find them to be full of shit, endlessly promoting the bands that the labels are either pushing or following stupid trends based on who is more kvlt or worse. Half the time when I read a review it tells me that the album sounds like a chainsaw chopping up old ladies. I have a difficult time figuring out what kind of picking technique a guitarist is using to make that kind of sound. At FTU we want to know if they are playing duel harmonies, tremolo picking or blast beats. We really want to know what the band sounds like and if they have any originality or is it more of the same old mediocre shit that is polluting the scene?
Currently we are reviewing random demos and albums in no particular order and we will continue to promote albums that we have been listening to throughout the years. We will review old albums, new albums, popular bands as well as the most unknown garage bands. We do not discriminate, there is good and bad in all the sub-categories from the top to the bottom.
If you would like us to review something just send it. We are not getting paid to do this stuff so you will actually get an honest review. However, we will be brutally honest, if you are a clone we will tell you. We also do not get in a hurry to post reviews as we do not have a deadline.
